How to Install and Configure Raid Drives

Many of us think using a raid is an outdated configuration. In my opinion, they don’t do their proper research on raids. By running a raid configuration on your PC, you will get many advantages. If you are a regular user, then raid 0 will give you top performance. Moreover, it will increase the speed of reading and writing. 

Besides, Raid 1 has better transfer rates. It can easily transfer data from one to another hard drive easily by taking the essential backup. 

So, setting your hard drive on which raid configuration depends upon you. You are the only one who decides which is going to be best for you. For use raid 0 will be an excellent choice because of its speed, performance, security and great transfer rates. 

Take Backup Before Starting

If you decide to configure your computer in the raid, you have to backup all of your data. Otherwise, the process will erase all of them and this will cause a great loss for you. If you think about data recovery, this will cost you a lot. 

Now you will need two separate drives for completing the whole process. Download the raid driver and keep it on the first drive. Don’t forget to find one according to your model and version. Download the Windows ISO in another drive. It’s possible that you can install both of them inside one drive, but it can cause instability while starting the process. 

Setting: Raid 0 or Raid 1

We already mention the benefits of both raid drives. Besides that, those two have different disadvantages. If you look at raid 0, you can notice it distributes your data on multiple drives. This is a huge risk for any raid 0 users because all data will be gone if any drive fails. On the other hand, raid 1 is much slower than raid 0. 

Both raid 0 and raid 1 have the same setup process. Before that, make sure your computer motherboard has an existing raid controller. If everything is good, then connect any of your drives and boot from the BIOS. From there, you can easily control the BIOS and chipset. When the chipset screen opens, go for the SATA mode and change to raid from AHCI. After that, simply save and your windows will restart and open with a different screen view. 

Press and hold Ctrl + R for launching the raid controller. This will take you in a different window view. From the select create the array and select your desired drive to configure raid. 

After selecting the drive, you will see a screen with the raid version, and there you can choose your selected raid version (0 or 1). Now, you will get an option for catch setting, select the read/write option, and press the C for creating the array. Press Esc and Y, this will restart the computer with raid configuration. Now you need to go back to the BIOS again for selecting the new raid configuration. You will see the PC takes a restart again and go for the normal setup process. 

It’s time to plug in your flash drive, which has a raid drive setup. Navigate and configure all drivers on your needs and select one to set up the windows. All those processes are now the same as the regular windows setup.
