Apple is reportedly trying to bring some advanced features from its recently launched Vision Pro mixed reality headset into its upcoming operating systems, iOS 18 and iPadOS 18.
iOS 18 To Have VisionOS-Inspired Design Changes: Report
According to a new report from the Israeli website The Verifier, the Cupertino giant is looking to bring many of the visionOS-inspired design elements to iOS 18 and iPadOS updates and change the user interface (UI) similar to visionOS, the operating system that runs on Apple’s new Vision Pro headset.
The report adds that in December 2023, Apple updated its content streaming app for Apple TV to tvOS 17.2, introducing a new floating, translucent sidebar menu featuring design elements similar to visionOS. It is said that the Apple TV app on iPadOS 18 will also feature the same menu design.
Further, the report added that the iOS 18 operating system will also be updated with a fresh UI design, as well as built-in apps like Safari, system menus and popups with a new design, and more.
It is important to note that the publication has yet to provide any evidence to prove that the information shared related to the upcoming Apple products or software is accurate. So, taking this information with a pinch of salt is advisable.
This is not the first time we have heard that Apple is working on a significant update to iOS. Bloomberg’s reporter Mark Gurman, in a recent report, suggested that iOS 18 is expected to be the Cupertino company’s biggest iOS update to the mobile operating system in several years.
Apple will likely announce the new operating systems, iOS 18 and iPadOS 18, as part of the annual WWDC 2024 developer conference this June. It will then be released to developers for beta testing, followed by a public beta release likely in July 2024. The iOS 18 and iPadOS updates will be released to the general public in September alongside the iPhone 16 line-up.
