Research firm Newzoo and PC game app-maker Overwolf revealed today that Asus is the top brand in the U.S. for PC gaming, beating competitors HP and MSi. Newzoo based its findings on Overwolf’s user base of 12 million PC gaming enthusiasts as part of its new PC Gaming Hardware Tracker, which includes more than 40 countries. The research group notes that it doesn’t take custom-made PCs into account.

While Asus is on top with 18 percent in the U.S., MSi’s MS-7693 is actually the most popular PC model in the country, with 1.9 percent of gamers using it. That might seem like a small number for the top spot, but PC gamers have a lot of different computers to choose from.

Asus is actually based in Taiwan. According to analysts at Gartner, Asus was the fourth most popular PC manufacturer in 2015, selling over 21 million units worldwide.

Not long ago, people used to talk about how PC gaming was dying. The advent of digital stores such as Steam and hits like League of Legends and Minecraft have given the platform a huge boost. According to Newzoo, the PC/MMO (massively multiplayer online games) space will be worth $26.7 billion in 2016. It is only projected behind the smartphone segment.
