Telegram is all set to launch its video calling services. The Zoom app has got a new competitor now. The company has announced that now, Telegram is going to launch a video calling service this year.

Telegram said that the video calling service of this app would be secure and usable. There are apps which are either secure or usable but not both. We will fix that, the messaging app said.

Zoom, the app became popular during the lockdown because of coronavirus. However, the app was pulled down because of security and privacy flaws. And because of this, the company freeze the feature for 90 days, and the new update Zoom 5.0 is coming this week. The new update will bring password protection and improved encryption with support for AES 256-bit GCM encryption.

Telegram did not reveal much about the new feature that how many participants will be allowed. It is not clear that when the new feature will be out.

The company said in a statement, ”

“Telegram has reached 400,000,000 monthly users, up from 300 million a year ago. Every day at least 1.5 million new users sign up for Telegram. Features like folders, cloud storage, and desktop support make Telegram ideal for remote work and study during the quarantine.”

As of now, there are too many videos calling apps like Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, and Skype. Recently, Facebook has also announced a video calling service called Messenger Room which will allow 50 participants to join a video call. Whatsapp has also extended the limit to its video calling from 4 to eight.
