Apple Brings Call Recording And Call Transcript On iOS 18

One of the significant highlights that Apple is bringing to iOS 18 is the ability to record and transcribe phone calls, which aims to improve communication and call management on the iPhone.

This update lets users record and transcribe a live call directly from the Phone app. In other words, the new call recording iOS 18 feature will allow users to record calls on the Phone app and get their transcriptions.

When the call is being recorded, all parties involved in the call will be notified to avoid any confusion or unwanted surprises. After recording the call, the newly introduced Apple Intelligence AI system in iOS 18 will actively transcribe the call’s content and provide a written transcript of the conversation.

Thanks to Apple’s new intelligence features, users can also generate a summary of key points discussed during the call, making it easier to recall what was important at a glance without the need to listen to the entire recording.

Further, Apple also plans to extend the feature to record and transcribe audio from within the Notes app soon, starting from the iPhone 12 and later models.

For the first time, Apple is offering its users audio and transcription capabilities, demonstrating its commitment to inclusivity. Phone call transcription will be available in a wide range of languages, including English (U.S., UK, Australia, Canada, India, Ireland, New Zealand, Singapore), Spanish (U.S., Mexico, Spain), French (France), German (Germany), Japanese (Japan), Mandarin Chinese (China mainland, Taiwan), Cantonese (China mainland, Hong Kong), and Portuguese (Brazil).

Other new features for the Phone app include a new search interface for call history, an autofill feature for phone numbers, and the option to switch SIM cards seamlessly during a call.
