Apple Would Upgrade Front Camera of iPhone 14, Including its Focus

Apple might be planning to enhance the front camera experience for selfies, facetime, and FaceID in iPhone 14 after a long period.

iPhone 14 leaks are coming up day by day. Still, the latest leak appears interesting to know because iPhones haven’t included front camera autofocus in the past, and iPhone 14 might introduce an autofocus camera.

A reliable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, recently suggested some of the new upgrades regarding the iPhone 14 series front camera.

iPhone 14 Might Introduce Auto Focus Feature in Camera

From iPhone 11 launch to now, Apple doesn’t change the front camera. Since iPhone 11 series, iPhones have included the same front camera of 12MP & f/2.2 until now, and it’s time to change.

Kuo has suggested two key improvements to the front camera of iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max.

According to Kuo’s tweet, iPhone 14’s front camera might upgrade to a better aperture of about f/1.9 from f/2.2. It will perform a little increase in the aperture, allowing more light to reach the sensor. As a result, the captured picture will be slightly lighter and enhanced. Also, a lower f-number will provide a better shallow depth of field effect for selfie/portrait mode.

Kuo also suggested the iPhones have the fixed focus ability, but with the changes in hardware the device will be able to support Auto Focus, and the company would switch from Fixed focus to Autofocus with their software solutions.

In addition, This autofocus will provide a more satisfactory front camera experience for selfies, Facetime, and with natural effect, and will also enhance the focus effect to video calling and live-streaming apps.

Recently, Kuo has also claimed that the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will feature an advanced upgraded rear camera system which might enable 8K video recording with a 48-megapixel wide lens. Currently, the latest iPhone only supports 4K.
