How to Set Perplexity Assistant on Android

Perplexity AI isn’t as popular as ChatGPT or Copilot, but it’s one of the first AI tools to combine AI with web search.

Now, it looks like the Preplexity app for Android has a new feature that allows you to use Perplexity AI as a digital assistant.

If you’re a Perplexity AI user, you can now set the AI as the default digital assistant on your Android instead of Google Assistant. Here’s how to do so.

Update the Perplexity AI app

The feature is available on the latest version of the Perplexity AI app for Android.

You need to open the Google Play Store and update the Perplexity AI app from there.

If you haven’t used the app yet, you can install it from the Play Store.

How to Set Perplexity AI as Default Assistant on Android

Once you’ve updated or installed the Perplexity AI app on your Android phone, follow these steps to set it as the default assistant.

1. Download & install the Perplexity AI app on your Android phone.

2. Next, launch the app and log in with your account.

3. Once logged in, tap your profile icon at the top left corner.

4. On Settings, scroll to the Assistant section and tap Enable Assistant.

5. On the next screen, tap the Default digital assistant app option.

6. On the next screen, select Perplexity.

7. On the confirmation prompt, tap Ok.

8. Now, move to your Android home screen and perform the gesture to launch the Digital Assistant app. This will launch Perplexity Assistant.

At the time of writing, the Perplexity AI assistant supports 15 different languages. The AI assistant can also perform tasks in apps, such as playing music on Spotify, setting alarms, booking rides, or playing a YouTube video.
